Secure Printing

Secure. Convenient. Cost-effective

A modern campus printing experience powered by secure print release and cloud-managed printer connections.

Campus Printing Strategy

UNT Dallas is modernizing campus printing to make it easier, more secure, more convenient, and more cost-effective. Over the past two years, printing costs have increased by approximately 20%. The new strategy combines strategically located multifunction printers (MFPs), secure print release, cloud-managed printer connections, and ColorSave technology to reduce waste and control costs while preserving a dependable user experience.

Faculty & Staff

Students

Faculty and staff can print securely from university-managed computers using Secure Print. Simply:

Select a Secure Print queue when printing.
Submit your print job.
Go to any Secure Print-enabled printer.
Sign in and release your document.
Printer connections are managed through Vasion PrinterLogic, making it easy to access available campus printers.

Use designated student printing locations and follow the university's student printing procedures. Student printing is separate from the faculty and staff Secure Print service and may use different locations, access methods, or payment requirements.

Why Secure Print?

  • Keep documents in a secure queue until the user is present.
  • Supports release at participating Secure Print-enabled MFPs.
  • Helps protect sensitive information and reduce abandoned print jobs.
  • Provides consistent printing experience across campus work areas.

Why Use ColorSave?

ColorSave is the recommended option for most faculty and staff printing. It reduces color toner usage by up to 65% and produces less-saturated color while leaving black text almost unchanged. This makes it well suited for internal reports, charts, graphs, drafts, and proof copies where color is useful but the highest-quality color output is not required.

Choose a Print Queue

Select the option that best fits your printing needs. For most documents, we recommend UNTD-SecurePrint-ColorSave.

  UNTD-SecurePrint-ColorSave (Recommended)   UNTD-SecurePrint-FullColor
  Everyday printing   High-quality color
  Lower toner usage    Accurate colors
  Reports & drafts   Marketing materials
  Most users   Special-use printing
ColorSave reduces toner usage while keeping documents clear and easy to read. Choose FullColor when accurate color reproduction is required.

How Secure Print Works

  1. Select UNTD-SecurePrint-ColorSave or UNTD-SecurePrint-FullColor from the application.
  2. Send your print job.
  3. Go to any participating Secure Print-enabled MFP.
  4. Authenticate using a UNT Dallas ID badge or campus credentials.
  5. Select Print Release and collect the document.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which queue should I use?
Use UNTD-SecurePrint-ColorSave for most printing needs. Use UNTD-SecurePrint-FullColor when high-quality color output is required.

Will ColorSave affect document readability?
ColorSave is designed so that black text remains almost unchanged, which helps maintain readability.

How do I retrieve my print job?
Authenticate at a Secure Print-enabled printer and release your document.

The printer is missing. What should I do?
Restart your computer. If the printer still does not appear, contact the IT Help Desk.

How do I scan to email?
At a campus multifunction printer, sign in using your UNT Dallas ID badge or campus credentials, select the scan option, choose email as the destination, confirm or enter the recipient email address, adjust scan settings if needed, and send the scanned document.
